USAID team visits Energypac Agro-G’s Hybrid Rice Seed Production Program at Sherpur, Bogra.
A USAID team comprising Dr. David Gisselquist, Dr. M. Nasiruddin and Mr. Harun-Ar-Rashid visited AgroG’s 200 acres of hybrid rice seed production plots at Sherpur, Bogra on 7th March, 2011 . Mr Saiful kabir, AgroG’s plant breeder demonstrated the seed production program to the team members. The visitors enquired about the progress of the seed production program and became impressed with growth of the rice plants (A & R Lines). Agro G has been successfully producing hybrid rice seeds for the last three years and this year’s expected production is about 230-140 tons. Agro G is planning to produce 400 tons of hybrid rice seeds during 2012 Boro season. The crop is now at the panicle initiation stage and the seeds are expected to be harvested during last weeks of April, 2011.
