Energypac Agro Ltd. participated in National Seed Conference and Fair, 2010
A three day National Seed Conference and Fair, 2010 was held from 9-11 March at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center, Dhaka. The Conference and Fair was organized by the Seed wing, Ministry of Agriculture, Peoples’ Republic of Bangladesh and sponsored by many foreign and local agencies including Energypac Agro Ltd. (EAL).
Many spectators visited EAL stall and showed their keen interest on EAL products indicating that AgroG brand has already earned good reputation for selling quality products. Dr. M A Razzaque, Minister for Food and Disaster Management, also visited the EAL stall. He appreciated EAL’s Sr. Vice President Dr. S. B Naseem for his effort to maintain and sell quality seeds to farmers. He emphasized to maintain this trend which would help the country to become self sufficient in food production.
The Key note paper of the conference was presented by Mr. Anwar Faruque, DG, Seed wing, Ministry of Agriculture and Convener of the Conference and Fair. Dr. Naseem was a discussant of the paper, among others, where he appreciated Mr. Faruque for playing major role in forming the SAARC Seed Forum and organizing the national seed fair & conference, 2010.
Dr. Naseem also chaired a very important Technical Session where papers were presented on Climate Change & Agriculture and Public Private Partnership in Seed Industry. In the technical session, it was discussed that climate change threatens the basic elements of life for our people - access to water, food & shelter .It is estimated that about 7.6 million ha are being affected by drought, salinity & submergence in the country thus seriously reducing farmers’ income that lead to migration, malnutrition and other socio-economic stresses. Consequently food security is becoming a challenge for affected regions where coordinated efforts are urgently needed to combat the threats of climate change in Agriculture.
