Jhalok (Agro G1) and Bijli (Agro G2) are two very popular hybrid rice varieties imported from China and marketed by Energypac Agro Ltd. These two varieties have already created massive interest among the farmers and extension workers.

Dr. S B Naseem, Senior Vice President, Energypac Agro Ltd. (EAL), Dr Md. Anwar Hossain of EAL and senior officials from DAE like Mr. Habibur Rahman, Director (Field), DAE, Khamarbari, Dhaka, Mr. Abdul Hakim, DD, DAE, Jessore, Mr. Abdul Mannan, UAO, Keshabpur, Jessore, along with many farmers visited the Jholok field of Mr. Zillur Rahman, a farmer of village Sharotia, Keshabpur, Jessore. All the visitors expressed their satisfaction observing the condition of the crop. The visiting farmers predict that the yield of the standing crop of Jhalok could be 8.5-9.5 tons per hectare. The crop was at ripening stage and is about 7-10 days earlier than BRRI dhan28. Since Jhalok is early maturing, having fine grain like BRRI dhan28 and can produce 10-15 mounds more yield per bigha than BRRI dhan 28, it is expected that Jholok would be very popular among the farmers in coming years . Similarly, Bijli ( Agro G2 ) is expected to produce 10-11 tons /ha that is 20-15% higher than the yield and is 8-10 days earlier than BRRI dhan 29.
Dr Naseem, Dr Anwar Hossain also visited the hybrid rice (Jholok and Bijli) fields in Bagerhat, Khulna, Jessore and Gopalgonj districts. Both the varieties created massive impact among the farmers.
